It was likely worn to celebrate feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The colorful needlepoint orphreys on front and back feature white lilies with green leaves. The needlepoint was done using chenille thread, so the orphreys have a lush feel. The chasuble is trimmed in metallic silver banding. The piece is lined with plain cream/beige fabric. The chasuble measures 38 inches from the top of the shoulder to the back lower hem and 25.5 inches wide in the back. The stole is 85 inches long. The blue velvet is intact with no tears or holes. There is some darkening at the top of orphrey on the back. There are some areas of missing needlepoint stitches on the lower back. The tie cords are present. I try very hard to accurately describe my items. Because I deal mostly in vintage collectibles and antiques, most of my items will have signs of previous use or age wear.
